IOT & App Monitoring Tool

For the Gatorade shows, we needed a nice way of monitoring the Raspberry PIs in our Network and to deploy, shutdown or restart the Unity applications.

So I build an IOS app, based on the Ionic Framework, which was connected to our MQTT server.

For every network connect of an application, we sent over detailed information about the IP of an app or device, his connected IOT modules, like RFID readers or LED stripes and their status, so basically if they are connected and are running like expected.

Apps Overview – Displaying all Unity/IOS apps

We were able to check the version numbers of our apps and deploy them remotely from our app. As we had more than 40 applications running on our tradeshow, this was a pretty comfortable way of monitoring and updating these.

App Details – Displaying if the app is running and if an RFID module is connected

The RFID section displayed all connected PIs in our network with their network status and we were able to simulate User logins within our app without testing them all physically onsite.

RFID Reader Details – Displaying the RFID/Mqtt channel and if an LED controller is connected

We also cached and logged out all Mqtt logs, in case, devices had issues while connecting or RFID tags were not registered

Within the settings tab, the admin could change the IP-Address of our Mqtt server, add or rename download folders for the update of our Unity apps and also shutdown or update all apps, which was a nice feature, especially in the evenings, when the trade show closes down.
