Interactive LED Spheres in Unity

 

For a client project I setup a rough prototype to animate real LED-spheres, based on a Unity-3D scene in realtime.

I wrote a custom ART-Net library to connect the electronical winches with our scene, so we were able to mirror simulated and real spheres, adjust material colors and positions.

In our test, we only used 42 winches to try out different animation patterns, check the maximum speed and range of the winches.

But the framework is scalable to a unlimited amount of winches, for setting up more complex installations with a bigger amount of spheres.

The prototype was part of a bigger client project to enhance 3D animations on a 6×2,5 meter LED wall, controlled by additional connected mobile devices in realtime.
